Have you had enough of Snapchat? Over Whatsapp? Ready for a new messaging app to spice up your life? If so, this one’s for you. Or at least it will be when it makes it to South Africa.
Yahoo have just launched ‘Livetext’ in their first five countries, and phone addicts everywhere are going beserk. Essentially, it’s a video chat that uses text instead of sound. The Verge sums it app like so:
If old-school texting, Snapchat, and Beme all got drunk one night and had a baby, it would probably be something like Livetext — quick, personal, and kind of fun. Less certain is whether it will ever come to feel essential.
My sentiments exactly. I’m sure those Yahoo people want us all to believe we can’t live without this ‘groundbreaking’ new app, which has been compared to passing notes at school. Quite honestly, I think that’s where its best hit rate will be – among tweens and teens whose lives revolve around social media.
