Whoever came up with the ‘selfie’ has a lot to answer for. Namely, the degeneration of modern civilization as more and more of us turn into snap-happy pout-faced zombies. I know plenty of people who wouldn’t be seen dead doing it in public, but happily spend hours in their bedroom creating the perfect “I wanna sex you up” photo.
Photographer Evan Baden shows us how ridiculous it is with this brilliant “Technically Intimate” photo project, in which he recreates sexy selfies found on the interweb with models he finds through Craigslist.
Some of the photos are pretty raw – the models are ‘real people’, shot in their own bedrooms. Baden told the Huffington Post:
I believe that people of the digital-native generation seem to be of the impression that the sending of sexual images denotes an act of intimacy,” whereas I find that when an image is sent, any emotional meaning that may have existed between the sender and receiver is severed, and the sender merely becomes a pornographic body (usually headless) for the receiver to consume at their leisure and in perpetuity.”
Prepare to cringe if you’ve ever done any of these poses. (I know you have).
Phew.
