You know that saying about how if it sounds too good to be true it sometimes is? Well, when a wise guy promises you an 84% return on your foreign exchange investments you’re going to want to ask some questions.
A certain Colin Davids, sole member of the company Platinum Forex, had been making such grand promises until his world came crashing down and he had R138 million worth of assets frozen, money gathered mainly from unsuspecting investors. TimesLive reports:
The forfeiture unit, under the National Prosecuting Authority, brought a high court application to have Davids’s assets frozen, after a probe by the Financial Intelligence Centre, the Financial Services Board and the Hawks.
“Court papers allege that Colin Davids used … investors’ funds to pay for two immovable properties in Plattekloof and Hermanus, motor vehicles for his wife, Charlyn, (and) household expenses from retail stores,” said NPA Western Cape spokesman Eric Ntabazalila.
Davids has a captivated audience on his Facebook page, where he posts long religious speeches. He claims to have studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Should we get nasty? Why not, I’m hungover and this guy sounds like a doos. Davids’ favourite quote is ‘don’t wait for things to happen – make it happen. You are destined to be a success. Be good, do good’. It sounds like a classic case of selective application because I’m pretty sure he skipped out on that last bit.
Now we don’t want to take the mickey out of any investors who lost money but let this be a lesson to us all – when someone rolls into town claiming they can turn water into wine let’s poke around before thrusting our hard-earned money into their grubby paws.
Perhaps we should stick with the tried and tested, the guys who have a proven track record of making your money work for you. We’re talking about our friends over at Consequence Private Wealth, combining decades of experience with sound financial strategies that ensure no Colin Davids waltzes into town and empties our coffers.
After all, and we know you’re gonna love this one – the consequences of decisions made today will unfold over a lifetime based on the sound principles applied at their inception.
Boom.
