Politics really can be a tiresome ‘he said she said’ affair at times, and we should have known yesterday’s Nkandla inspection would turn into a bout of political mudslinging.
Both the DA and the ANC are crying foul about how yesterday unfolded but we’ll start with Maimane’s member having a song dedicated to it. This below from TimesLive:
[A group of ANC supporters gathered outside the president’s home] sang “Lala kahle Maimane, itotolozi iyavela [sit properly Maimane we can see your private parts].
Someone might have to educate me here as this is not an insult I am familiar with. Are they alluding to him having female genitalia that can be seen if he sits with his legs open? Perhaps his penis is in fact so large that, unless he makes an effort to conceal it, his member is visible to the general public.
Either way we can be sure it was not meant as a compliment, although the ANC were quick to point to the antics of the DA as the most inflammatory of the day. This below according to ANC chief whip Stone Sizani :
…the media inspection had hardly began when DA members led by the DA chief whip and spokesperson Phumzille van Damme disrupted the process and started howling and hurling insults at the police members who were guiding the media.
To the clear irritation of a group journalists present, they interrupted an orderly process in which the media was witnessing first hand the place, including asking substantive and probing questions regarding the security upgrades.”
…true to the DA antics of attracting media attention by hook or crook, he and his mob opted to pull silly stunts in front of the television cameras present…
We condemn such blatant act of hooliganism, which is clearly driven by a shameless insatiable appetite for media attention and a selfish disregard for the rights of others.
By the way those ANC supporters gathered outside also sung such popular ditties as ‘hands off our president’ and ‘down with Maimane; down with the garden boy’.
Meanwhile, somewhere out there, JZ giggled unceremoniously and counted his riches.
