Comedians who attempt to further their own careers by pranking unsuspecting celebrities are often bigger twats than those they seek to ridicule. That logic does not apply to Lee Nelson – real name Simon Brodkin – who managed to gain access to a Sepp Blatter press conference in Zurich and make a mockery of Blatter’s attempts to once again blow his own trumpet.
As you can see from the video above the current Fifa president was showered with false bank notes, Nelson implying that they were to secure the 2026 World Cup hosting rights for North Korea. The bloated Swiss autocrat seems less than impressed with proceedings and cries out for his security team. The pictures and text below courtesy of the Telegraph:
He steps forward to the dais where Blatter is sitting and tries to present him with a wad of banknotes.
Nelson says: “Sepp, this is for North Korea in 2026” before Blatter summons security guards to intervene.
As Nelson is being led away, he throws the notes in the air, which fall around a visibly furious Blatter before he gets up and walks out of the room. Nelson then issues a parting shot at Blatter, saying: “Cheers, Sepp – it’s all there”.
We always have time for anyone who takes the mickey out of Blatter so it’s a ‘well played sir’ from our side.
