If you know what Rolling Stone Magazine is, you’ll also know it’s regularly lambasted for its descent from being the pinnacle of Rock & Roll cool to featuring ridiculous, mass-market fame hunters like Nicki Minaj and Snooki from Jersey Shore.
The latest cover, featuring (yawn) Kim Kardashian, seems to be the final straw for singer Sinead O’Connor, who took to Twitter to air her disgust:
What is this c–t (“I don’t smile much because it causes wrinkles”) doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it? Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be fucking horrified.

Here’s the titillating subject of her rant:
It’s no surprise, really, that O’Connor is so offended – she’s one of a growing minority of female singers who don’t strip off to perform, and who isn’t afraid to voice her opinions, as opposed to being a PR puppet. As the Telegraph points out, Kardashian embodies the cult of empty celebrity:
Kim Kardashian became famous for an online sex tape, stayed famous because her body appears to defy the laws of gravity and is married to one of the most ludicrous men on earth. There lies the extent of her achievements.
Some people are upset by the language O’Connor uses, branding it just another one of her “controversial” comments, like that letter to Miley Cyrus. Then again, my friend was telling me about the Lady Gaga concert at the stadium a few years back, and how he couldn’t believe how many times she sang the C*** word to her 80% tweenie audience.
I know in which context I’d rather hear it.
