President Barack Obama is a fan of speaking rather slowly and deliberately, carefully considering his words to ensure he doesn’t give his detractors too much to pick apart. When he is talking about rape and Bill Cosby his words seem even more considered, which is a good thing too given how much attention the media are paying to his statement on the matter.
Obama was yesterday asked whether his government would consider revoking Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded to the former comedy icon by George Bush back in 2000. As you can see from the video above he side steps the question rather well and then uses the platform to preach on the matter of rape.
Cosby has come under fire once more after it came to light that he had admitted to giving women Quaaludes with the intent to later have sex with them, otherwise known as rape. I find it remarkable that, despite the testimonies of over 40 different women, it is his ten-year-old admission that has really stepped up the heat and caused many of those who stood by him to finally turn their backs.
Nice speech Obama, but how about you get some of the top brass moving on this and get Cosby to once and for all front up to his accusers.
