If you’re in need of a good cringe, it’s worth watching this video of Brandy doing an impromptu rendition of Whitney’s “Home” on the New York subway. Brandy was pretty big in her late 90’s / early noughties heyday, with hits like “The Boy Is Mine” and the sitcom “Moesha”. But it’s fair to say she’s been a bit quiet of late, which might be why she decided to make this bizarre video.
Her first mistake was to dress ‘incognito’ in shades and a hoody, thus looking more hobo than pop star. She then went on to serenade a full subway carriage, all of whom failed to recognise her or indeed give a rats ass about what was going on. When she realised her publicity stunt had backfired, she declared:
No-one responded, I’m going to call my mom.”
Oh dear. She seemed to take it all in her stride, though, and even asked a commuter for singing tips. Bless.
