A night out in Claremont took a turn for the worse when 18-year-old Sanet de Lange hopped into a taxi outside Tiger Tiger. The young lady was found by police lying on the ground with head injuries not far from where she hopped into the cab, and it is hoped that CCTV footage will shed some light on exactly what happened.
Sanet can remember very little of the incident but, according to her mother, the trouble started when she caught a taxi occupied by two men. IOL reports:
The taxicab she had hailed was occupied by two men – a driver and passenger.
[Her mom, also named Sanet] de Lange said: “She got into the taxi, realising she didn’t have money. She offered to pay the driver when she got home. Then the two men started quarrelling and she remembers getting scared.”
Sanet wasn’t sure whether it was at a traffic light or a four-way stop, but when the car came to a halt, she tried to jump out. It was then that they attacked her.
“She managed to slip away and cover herself in leaves. She was soaking wet when she was found. At the hospital they thought she had been in an accident because she was covered in all these leaves and twigs.”
The 18-year-old suffered a gash to the temple and is struggling to eat, as well as requiring trauma counselling following the ordeal.
Her brother Marius took to Facebook to show support fir his sister:
