We know that sometimes us gents aren’t great at reading instructions but Lewis Hamilton has had something of a Wimbledon shocker.
The Formula One ace took to Instagram and posted his invitation to watch the men’s singles final from the Royal Box, a rather prestigious invite to say the least. No doubt Lewis was excited and we can’t fault him for popping up this picture:
The problem arose when Lewis was barred from entering the box because he didn’t heed the instructions to wear a jacket and tie. This from the Telegraph:
A spokesman for Hamilton said: “Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding the dress code at Wimbledon, Lewis is very disappointed to have missed the men’s final.”
The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) confirmed that Hamilton was absent from the Royal Box for the final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
“If [Hamilton] was not adequately dressed you could infer that he would not have been let in, but we do not comment on our guests,” a spokesman said.
“If he came without a jacket, tie or shoes he would have had two choices – not staying or going to get some extra stuff.”
So what was Hamilton wearing? A clue from a second Instagram post on Sunday:
Not very clear is it, how about this one from later in the day?
That is a definite lack of jacket and tie Lewis, I don’t think you can have many complaints.
Celebs who managed to enjoy the match included Bradley Cooper, Hugh Grant and Benedict Cumberbatch.
