I imagine that for guys like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi winning R100 million would be a nice little Christmas bonus but, for a player who retired almost 50 yeas ago, it’s a completely different story.
75-year-old Terry Bradbury got lucky in Saturday’s UK Lotto Draw and scooped the top prize of £5,517,056, a significant amount when considering he earned around £25 a week when turning out for Chelsea back in the day. The Telegraph reports:
The ex-midfielder, from Buxton, Derbyshire, said: “The news really is still sinking in. We still can’t quite believe it”…
Terry Bradbury’s wife, Eleanor, said: “the villa [that they plan on buying in Spain] will be a place where our family can always go on holiday. This win will provide our family with security for the future.”
The couple purchased their ticket at a WH Smith near their home in Buxton. This picture below from his heyday shows that Terry might be one of those rare breeds that looks better in his 70’s than he did in his 20’s.
With our national lotto currently in a spot of bother perhaps it’s time you dabbled abroad, something made easier by the fact you can grab yours online. Take the US Mega Millions lotto for example, now standing at a cool $106 million (R1,3 billion) – no harm in dreaming big, right? You gotta be in it to win it, don’t say we never warned you.
