Here at 2OV we will always be fond of things that make our lives simpler. It’s a day to day struggle just to get out of bed sometimes, everything after that needs to be made as easy as possible.
When it comes to ensuring we get home in one piece at the end of a festive evening there is a sense of satisfaction that comes with tapping our phone screens a few times, then zooming home in style. Uber has changed the way we think about getting around and become our go-to guys, which is why when they’re in a spot of bother we’re going to see if we can help.
You may have received an email this morning but in case you didn’t here’s what is going on.
Regulation in the Western Cape, aggressive intimidation, and impoundments are threatening job creation and preventing Uber driver partners from offering safe and reliable rides.
Despite over a year of progressive discussions with regulators, there is still no clear route to obtaining vehicle operating permits for Uber driver partners. A process that should take no longer than a few weeks has been dragging on for over 6 months.
Despite the fact that operating licenses have been issued to large metered taxi fleet operators, not a single operating permit has been issued to an Uber partner.
They are asking for your help in the form of signing a petition, a show of support that you appreciate the service they offer and the livelihood they provide for so many.
It only takes a second – sign the petition HERE and let’s keep life as simple as possible.
