You would think, taking a look at Donald Trump’s girth and knowing his net worth, that he sits pretty much atop the food chain. You’re not that far wrong, but there are still a few people who can wield their power and deliver stinging blows to the billionaire’s bloated ego.
If you were lucky enough to see Trump’s speech during his announcement that he will run for president (please do so HERE, it is oh so worth it), you will know that he had some interesting ideas regarding Mexican immigrants. By interesting I mean ridiculous, and by ideas I mean brain farts.
Now despite what Trump might think, some Mexicans aren’t trying to hop the border and pollute ‘Merica’s ideals from the inside out. One man in particular, Carlos Slim, has amassed a fortune well over $70 billion and that has put him in a rather enviable position. Here’s CNN:
“We can confirm that we were working on a television project with Trump that has been dropped,” a spokesman for Ora TV, Slim’s television production studio in Mexico, [said].
Slim’s spokesman and son-in-law, Arturo Elias Ayub [said] that Trump’s statement was racist and “totally out of line … working with someone so close-minded was not going to work.”
This follows NBC axing Trump yesterday, a blow to the Miss USA pageant that he owns, NBC having previously broadcast the event.
Did the Trump back down and admit his statements were offside?
Trump tweeted on Tuesday: “I love the Mexican people, but Mexico is not our friend. They’re killing us at the border and they’re killing us on jobs and trade.”
He continued, “We MUST have strong borders and stop illegal immigration.”
Oh Donald, you really are the gift that keeps on giving. A muzzle might be in order but then we wouldn’t be treated to your petulant and simply ridiculous statements nearly as often.
Keep those zingers coming.
