The rivalry between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates has been going on for decades, with the Telegraph aptly naming them ‘The Biggest Technology Rivals in History”. And now another flame has been added to the well-stoked fire, with author and New Yorker writer Malcolm Gladwell giving his two pennies worth at a recent 92Y event. His remarks about Jobs were borderline scathing, as he said:
At the end of the day I don’t think the world remembers you forever if what you make are gadgets.
There’s no denying that Gates has made more of a philanthropic impact on the world, but does that make him a greater legacy? Particularly given the insanely huge net worth of Apple…I guess it depends on your definition of the word ‘legacy’, but it does seem a shame that prominent figures such as Gladwell feel the need to cast a negative light over one of the greatest minds of the 20th Century.
So where might you stand on the matter? We don’t want to start the classic office ‘Mac vs PC’ debate (even though there is only one winner), but we will tell you that if you’re inclined to go for one of Jobs’ jobbies you best be buying it from Digicape. They offer unrivalled discounts on all the latest Apple goodies and are always up to speed with all the new gadgets and goodies.
