We know that the U.S. police aren’t exactly the most popular bunch going around these days so heaven knows they could use some good press.

Step up to the plate this NYPD officer shaking his booty at New York City’s annual Gay Pride Parade. Whilst his identity is not known, he has become something of an internet sensation, with the above video clip viewed almost 1.5 million times. This from TIME:

Paige Ponzeka, a member of an LGBT softball league, posted the clip to YouTube after the parade. One of Ponzeka’s fellow marchers, Aaron Santis,[said] that he’d been trying (and failing) to get cops to dance with him all day. Finally, his plan worked.

“I didn’t expect him to get into it as much as he did,” Santis said. “The crowd just loved it and I think it made him want to dance more.” He added: “It was such a fun moment. He was such a good sport and I’m so glad he decided to dance.”

We’re just glad he didn’t decide to twerk, a move that should be made illegal for the good of all.
