It seems that the reach of internet trolls has made it IRL as one Glasto saddo decided to wave a giant banner showing a still from Kim Kardashian’s 2003 sex tape while Kanye was on stage.
As The Telegraph reports, the banner showed an image of Kim giving her ex oral sex, with the caption “Get down girl, get head get down.” – a play on the lyric “Get down girl, go head get down” from her husband West’s 2005 hit Gold Digger. Now, I realise that this douche bag’s nifty play on words is snigger-worthy, but does that make it ok?
The whole ‘slut shaming’ trend is a disturbing and depressing sign of our times, and I’ve always struggled to understand why people think it’s ok to attack celebrities in a way that would never ever pass in their own non-famous lives. But, I’ll save those thoughts for another day.
I am baffled by this guy and his banner for a couple of reasons. In the first instance, that he was sad enough to spend time and money making the aforementioned materials. But mainly because, what is he trying to say? That blow jobs are bad? Is he trying to make an example of Kim? To tell the rest of womankind that we shouldn’t be giving them to our boyfriends/husbands because if we do we’re dirty hoes? I mean, he clearly didn’t think this through.
Judging by The Telegraph‘s online poll, a lot of people found it funny. I wonder how many of those people, currently in relationships, would find it funny if their partner’s previous and totally legitimate sexual history was thrown in their face. I’m not saying Kim and Kanye are saints by any stretch of the imagination, and we all know they’ve (largely) paid for their fame and fortune by having their lives laid bare to the world. But they’re still people, man, and even famous people have feelings.
