Somewhere out there someone is reading this and remembering that time they came home thundered and took a tumble trying to extricate themselves from their toit jean pant. This ain’t your moment my friend, although we do share your pain.
Researchers from Australia are now saying that skinny jeans can cause severe nerve damage, describing the case of a 35-year-old woman who was hospitalised after a day of wearing a tight-fitting number. TIME reports:
The 35-year-old was helping a relative move, so she spent most of the day squatting while packing. Throughout the day, she felt her jeans get increasingly tight, until, while walking home in the evening, her feet went numb and she fell. Not able to get up, she spent several hours on the ground before she was taken to the hospital.
There, her legs and ankles had become so swollen that emergency room staff had to cut her jeans off. Her ankles and toes were weak, but the rest of her legs, including her knees and hips, were working normally.
Doctors who studied her leg nerves found that blockages in the nerve path had caused severe swelling and caused the nerves to become crushed.
What should we take from this? Never help anyone move, it can be severely detrimental to your health.
