Those of us growing up in the 90’s will always have a soft spot for PJ Powers who, together with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, was responsible for the iconic 1995 Rugby World Cup song ‘World in Union’. Go on, you know the words, I’m sure she won’t mind.
Something that will piss her off is attaching her name to a booze advert without her permission, especially when you consider that she is a recovering alcoholic who has now gone five and a half years without so much as a single toot.
Let’s take a look at the adverts that could end up proving very costly for Spar.
Powers’ manager took to the singer’s Facebook page today and posted a strongly-worded condemnation:
Looks to me like someone is getting ready to flex some legal muscle in the not-too-distant future. Questions must be asked as to who exactly signed off on this campaign without thinking to make sure they had the singer’s permission.
Spar is yet to comment – my guess is that all their available manpower is currently scampering around tearing down billboards at a rate of knots.
