It seems Spar may have been watching the actions of our politicians a little too closely of late and have taken the mantra of ‘deny, deny, deny’ on board.
If you’re not aware of the PJ Powers fiasco that Spar find themselves embroiled in, then get up to speed HERE, it really is a right old mess.
I’m going to assume you’re all caught up and we can soldier on with Spar’s botched attempt at an apology in a Facebook post covered here on Channel24:
TOPS at Spar apologises to “those who were offended by our message. The line was used as a play on words to refer to the Pyjama Party theme for the month of June. The theme is linked to the message from our Minister of Parties and Recreation: “No slumber, only party!” We never intended to offend anyone and sincerely apologise.”
I see many apologies in there but perhaps you might want to start with the woman herself? According to PJ’s manager Yvonne Johnston the singer is yet to receive an apology, let alone compensation, for having her name used without her consent.
It would be simply naive to believe that the link is purely coincidental which makes the apology ring shallow. At least have the gall to own up to a poor turn of phrase, extend an olive branch to Powers and move on with it.
Burying your head in the sand might be what some of the top brass in this country are fond of but is still very unbecoming.
