Surely You Shouldn’t Put A Gun Ad On The Same Page As A Massacre Story?

Well, this could go down as one of the most awkward and unpleasant moments in this newspaper's existence. Also, look at how cool an orca-cat is. An orcat? That works.

There’s a certain kind of finesse that some people just do not have, and this is a prime example…

After the tragic shooting of nine people in Charleston, South Carolina, The Charleston Post & Courier did something unbelievably awkward: they put an advert for a gun range slap bang next to the headline.

The advertisement is hawking a “Ladies’ Night” at the ATP Gun Shop and Range in Summerville, S.C. For $30, attendees receive eye and ear protection, a pistol or revolver, and 50 rounds of ammunition to use at the shooting range.

The paper has called it called it a “regrettable coincidence” and have said that “the front page sticky ad was not intentional”.

Good grief. This is honestly one of those moments when you want the ground to cave in underneath you and I hope for the person behind the “sticky” that it did.
