Good grief – if this doesn’t make you want to home school your kids, then I don’t know what will.
A video has emerged from Krugerlaan School (which caters for children who cannot be in “mainstream learning”) in Vereeniging showing a male pupil assaulting another boy in class.
The minute-long clip shows an unidentified boy in school uniform repeatedly slapping and punching a school-mate.
What’s more alarming is that is seems the teacher turns a blind eye to the entire thing.
The video begins with a teenager telling the viewers that he had permission to assault the boy that he then subsequently slaps, punches and knees.
The clip emerged on Facebook this week and now the Gauteng Education Department wants action to be taken against the aggressive boy.
MEC Panyaza Lesufi is awaiting an explanation from the school which will identify those involved and what happened. He has said how he is disappointed with what had happened and has “urged the district to investigate and act speedily on the issue of whether the learners were supervised”.
Our labour relations section has been instructed to go into the school to investigate the issue of the supervision of learners.
It is alleged that the teacher in the video is “already under investigation for other complaints”.
Nice.
Bullying is an increasing problem in South African schools with many saying that not enough is done by the teachers to reprimand students.
Between this kid and the kid in Walmart, I see a very bright future for the world.
