Warning – the above video does have the odd nipple shot and some sultry commentary, warn your co-workers beforehand or risk some nervous sideways glances.
Call me old-fashioned but a sex act committed alone is usually one that I don’t want interrupted by a robotic voice. Maybe it brings back memories of dial-up internet, that dreaded R2D2 noise announcing to the world that you were headed online, but Mrs Palmer and her friends weren’t partial to guests.
One man who certainly disagrees is Matt McMullen, the creator of the RealDoll. His current range of sex dolls sell for between $5 000 and $10 000 a pop, with customers able to customise the doll’s body type and skin, hair and eye colour.
But that is nothing compared to his latest project, the Realbotix. This from the New York Times:
Mr. McMullen is first focusing on developing convincing artificial intelligence, and a robotic head that can blink and open and close its mouth. He’s also working to integrate other emerging technologies, like a mobile app that acts like a virtual assistant and companion, and virtual reality headsets that can be used separately or in tandem with the physical doll.
Of course these beauties won’t come cheap, with the head alone set to cost around $10 000. Those wanting the full body will have to fork out between $30 000 and $60 000.
And you thought that time your mates caught you having some ‘alone time’, then made you them buy lunch in exchange for their silence was an expensive ordeal.
