We see you sitting on the other side of this screen reading away to your heart’s content. You’re thinking that we seem like pretty cool cats, quietly wondering what it would be like to work deep inside the belly of the beast.
Well we have good news and bad news for you and, because we want to root out those who aren’t serious about the job, we’ll start with the bad. This is something of a dysfunctional family, a flock ruled over by our Supreme Leader, Seth. When he isn’t cracking the whip he likes to swing a whole host of freebies our way, generally to soften the blow when pay day comes at the end of the month. We work, but we don’t work ourselves to the bone.
The good news, aside from the freebies and a bevy of beautiful people filing in and out of the office, is that we only need a writer for half of the day. That should leave all you budding writers plenty of time to work on those side projects you no doubt have going on. Your novel doesn’t have to wait, unless it features vampires in which case you should bin it immediately.
So what are we looking for? A solid grasp of the English language for a start – their and there, bare and bear, its and it’s – these are things our readers aren’t shy about pointing out when you miss the mark. You’ll also need a good sense of humour, both to survive office life and to inject our stories with that little something extra.
If we haven’t scared you off just yet congrats, you’ve passed the first hurdle. Now comes the hard bit – plucking up the courage to send in your CV. We’re not looking for the ‘please find attached my CV for your consideration’ email, we have enough of those coming our way. Take a chance, make yours stand out from the crowd, give us a sense of why you think you’d be a good fit for the 2OV team.
You can send your awe-inspiring emails (with CV attached) to chelsea@2oceansvibemedia.com. Make the subject line of the email ‘Yes, I know I can write’, click send and let’s see what happens.
