We all followed the penis transplant man‘s (as he will forever be known) story – he made medical history back in December, along with his doctor, Andre van der Merwe. Once again Cape Town was put on the international map (something we’re getting rather good at).

Dr van der Merwe said the recipients new appendage would be fully working within two years, but, miracle of all miracles, he had it up and running within five weeks. But that’s not all folks… Penis transplant man’s girlfriend is four months pregnant!

The good doctor saw his patient this week and was happy to report that “his patient is confident and sexually active”.

Speaking at Stellenbosch University yesterday about the success of the operation, van der Merwe said that they “initially had no financial backing, no donors and many critics”. Well, look at what a success it has been.

Well done, humans.
