And this, folks, is why you should stick to trafficking drugs respect sacred mountain tops in foreign countries. You just never know how the locals are going to respond. If J-Lo and her booty can get into trouble, so can yours.
A couple of tourists in Borneo have been arrested for taking a naked photo on top of a sacred mountain and causing a 6.0-magnitude earthquake.
Officials have blamed the disaster on a group of ten tourists, including Southampton University graduate Eleanor Hawkins. Four of the others have also been arrested.
Locals think the prank in the state of Sabah “infuriated tribal spirits and caused an earthquake that killed 18 people, and believe a “bizarre fine should be meted out in line with their traditions”.
What’s the fine?
Sabah’s chief tribal priest, Tindarama Aman Sirom Simbuna, has said:
The spirit of the mountain is very angry. The tourists who angered the guardian of the mountain should pay for their mistakes by giving sogit. This fine, called sogit in the native tongue, should be in the form of 10 male or female buffaloes.
The young tourists are also facing three months in prison.
Talk about when good times go bad…
