It appears that Schabir Shaik, the corrupt former business mogul who advised dear president Jacob Zuma, has something of a potty mouth.
Shaik was jailed back in 2005 for his illicit business dealings, although he was granted medical parole in 2009. A News24 journalist who today contacted him, seeking clarification on rumours that he may return to business, found out that despite being terminally ill, his sharp tongue seems in pretty good health. Here’s the account of the telephonic interview gone wrong:
Asked about his health, Shaik said: “My health is improving. Do you want to die? So why do you want me to die?”
Advised that he had been told upfront that he was speaking to a journalist from News24 and that this had been said at the outset of the telephone conversation, Shaik accused the journalist of “not having the balls” to interview him in person.
“I could have given you a headbutt. I will break you white boy. I will kick you in your poes.”
Asked to confirm that he would be kicking the journalist in the genitals, Shaik reconfirmed that: “I will kick you in your poes.”
He then turned to matters of a racial nature and told the journalist that he seemed unable to accept that South Africa was no longer under white rule. Not surprisingly the call ended shortly afterwards, with further attempts to contact Shaik proving unsuccessful.
The convicted criminal has a chequered history with the media having previously been accused of assaulting a journalist in Durban back in 2011, returning to the scene two years later to assault a caddie.
It seems his most recent indiscretion is par for the course then.
