Today is a sad day for all who had hoped Jenna Lowe would get her wish of making it to 21, but the extraordinary and heartfelt outpouring of grief shows just what an inspiration she was to so many.
Jenna became the voice for organ donation here at home when she launched her ‘Get me to 21‘ campaign, a movement that was to capture the nation’s hearts and attention, inspiring many to sign up as organ donors. She suffered from pulmonary arterial hypertension and passed away yesterday, four months short of her 21st birthday. Health24 reports:
Jenna was widely acknowledged for her efforts in raising awareness for organ donation. In 2014, she was awarded the Lead SA Youth Hero Award and was also visited and thanked in person by Helen Zille…
Towards the end of 2014, Jenna was matched with a pair of lungs and underwent a lung transplant in December…She spent over five months in hospital after the transplant and suffered a number of serious complications.
From all of us at 2oceansvibe our thoughts and prayers go out to Jenna’s family and friends.
For those who would like to sign up as an organ donor you can do so HERE – it’s free, quick and you could make a massive difference to the lives of so many.
