You know how sometimes on a Sunday morning, when you’re enjoying a lazy lie-in, the doorbell rings and you see some people at your gate holding thick books and looking like they’re here to save you? It generally makes me a little angry – leave me alone and let me sin in peace thank you very much.
Well one way to really piss people off is to picket at the funeral of Beau Biden, who served in the U.S. National Guard and happens to be the son of the current vice-president. Then again the fine folk of Delaware’s Westboro Baptist Church are no strangers to courting controversy, having already taken part in three similar protests. Here’s Delaware Online:
Westboro is known for its harsh anti-homosexual beliefs and the crude signs its members carry at their frequent protests…Westboro [is] “a family-based cult” led by Pastor Fred Waldron Phelps, nine of his 13 children, their children and spouses and a small number of other families and individuals.
Counter-protesters quickly drowned out the hatemongers who are angry at how vice-president Joe Biden and the U.S. government have put in place laws allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military. Whilst the two opposing protesters did not come to blows one former veteran did throw a cup of hot coffee on one member of the Westboro Baptist Church.
No doubt he can expect to be damned to the fiery pits of Hell for all eternity. See you there buddy.
