It looks like mother dearest will have to bring plenty of packed lunches for Christopher Panayiotou as he was denied bail in court today.
In a case that has gripped the attention of the nation magistrate Abigail Beaton delivered her verdict today at the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court. Panayiotou will now have to remain behind bars until at least June 19. Here’s your get up to speed summary from IOL in case you’re not sure why this man has provoked the ire of a nation:
Jayde, 29, was assaulted, thrown in the boot of a rental car and shot twice in the back and once in the head. Her body was found on the outskirts of KwaNobuhle township in Uitenhage a day after she disappeared.
It is alleged that Panayiotou, 28, paid his employee Luthando Siyoli R70 000 for the hit on his wife.
It is claimed Siyoli in turn secured the services of Sizwezakhe Vumazonke to carry out the job.
There were emotional scenes in the coutroom after the verdict was handed down with Jayde’s sister breaking down in tears.
Looks like he has well and truly lost the support of Jayde’s family in the face of mounting evidence.
Good luck in there Christopher, those home-cooked meals are probably the only thing you have to look forward to.
