Anyone who has watched Entourage over the duration of its eight seasons has probably, at one point or another, wanted to take the place of one of the characters. Except for Johnny Drama of course, no one wants to be that neurotic and insecure at any point in their life.
Whilst many of the characters are somewhat over the top it seems that what we watch might not be all that far-fetched after all. As the series prepares to make the jump to the big screen the cast were in fine force, especially the man who plays Ari Gold, Hollywood super-agent and master torturer of assistants.
Below you can see Jeremy Piven and the rest of the crew spill the beans on whether Tinseltown is full of people similar to the characters they portray.
There is also a one-on-one with Piven himself which you can see HERE (scroll down to the second video), where it is pretty obvious that once the cameras stop rolling Piven isn’t likely to drop F-Bombs and verbally abuse anyone within a 50 metre radius.
Here’s Mashable with where some of the similarities between the show and the Hollywood scene do exist:
All the stuff you see onscreen goes on here: the sleazy hookups at all-night parties, D-listers leveraging tiny shreds of fame for sex, tempestuous power struggles, utterly absurd excesses of the rich and eccentric … it’s not fiction. It’s been fact in Hollywood for time immemorial, and it’s not going to change.
Probably the most realistic thing about Entourage is that millions of dollars are routinely lost to hurt feelings in this town. Egos, loyalties and betrayals drive business decisions just as much as market research and talent, and if you don’t believe that, take a deep dive into emails from the Sony hack.
Egos in Hollywood, who would have thought?
