And now for your daily dose of local crime caught on camera.
Yesterday saw some dash-cam footage of a rather rapid heist in Fordsburg, Jozi, taking place on the off-ramp near Makro. Today it is the turn of two more laid-back criminals sauntering up to a parked vehicle in Blairgowrie, Randburg, resulting in a truly terrifying scenario for the driver. eNCA reports:
A woman was picking up her granddaughter on Nielson Drive just after 9am on Monday to take her to play at the park. But while she was strapping the two-year-old girl into the back car seat, two armed men approached her.
According to reports, they put a gun to the woman’s head and demanded her car and valuables.
Luckily, the woman reacted calmly and used the car keys as a bargaining chip to get her granddaughter out of the car safely before the hijackers drove off.
It really does pay to have your wits about you in scenarios such as these, with this woman’s reaction showing immense composure. I suppose you never know how you would react under such pressure but here’s hoping you never have to find out.
