If you, like me, like to wrap up your weekend with a spot of KUWTK on a Sunday night, then you would have seen everyone crying in Sunday’s episode. Khloe and Kendall had a conversation with then-Bruce, they cried, he cried. Kim cried about Kris. Kylie held back tears. This can’t have been an easy journey for anyone involved, and it has been a long process filled with public scrutiny.
But for the most part the Kardashian kids, as well as Kylie and Kendall, have embraced Caitlyn’s long journey and have been quite supportive (Khloe even gifted Bruce a matching pair of heels in Sunday’s episode and Kim complimented Bruce on his nail painting skills).
The picture painted of Caitlyn via Vanity Fair is one of relief, happiness – she is “finally free to live her life on her terms”. What better way to show the world her story than via an E! reality show, right?
Well, it’s not going to be that easy, as Caitlyn’s four older children, Burt, Cassandra, Brandon, and Brody, are not too keen to be a part of the show.
… [D]espite numerous entreaties from their father as well as the head of E! programming, the Jenner children refuse to participate, forgoing financial gain and exposure in the process. At first their decision did not seem to register with Caitlyn. She kept hoping they could be persuaded because she knows from eight years on Keeping Up with the Kardashians the necessity of a family dynamic for ratings success.
Caitlyn has also said she is “terribly disappointed and terribly hurt”.
But let’s clear up a few things: Jenner’s kids are completely in support of their father’s changes, they just don’t believe in reality TV.
Often the subject of KUWTK episodes has been trying to integrate the Jenner kids into the show, which usually works for the odd episode. Jenner has also admitted to being absent from the four kids’ lives growing up.
Cassandra has also said that she feels like “he’s been the closest to us and the best parent when he’s been moving toward his true identity”. Caitlyn’s reaosning?
Bruce Jenner was always telling lies. Caitlyn Jenner doesn’t have any lies.
Here’s hoping they can remain a happy, close-knit family.
