We hear the words ‘awesome’, ‘amazing’ and ‘legendary’ thrown around all too often these days. The internet does, after all, love a little hyperbole. But we’ll get to all of that in a second…
Mummy’s boy Christopher Panayiotou has become the owner of a ‘luxury’ house in Lovemore Heights estate in Port Elizabeth, the transfer having finally gone through late last week. The previous owner, Riaan Meyer, said that during one of his three visits Jayde’s parents had been ecstatic with the new purchase and had joked about which room would be theirs.
The house has four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and a number of so-called ‘lavish’ entertainment areas, and Meyer believes Panayiotou bought it due to safety considerations. News24 reports:
Christopher signed the purchase contract to the value of R2.35m on 22 February, and that deal has now been concluded.
He is the sole owner of the house.
In the wake of his arrest, Christopher and his finances have come under close scrutiny, with the businessman saying under oath that he earns R30 000 per month. That should make paying the almost R20 000 monthly bond somewhat difficult.
OK, about all that hyperbole stuff we mentioned earlier, let’s have a quick look at what R2.35 million will get you in PE these days.
To be brutally honest I’ve seen some uni digs that boast the same level of ‘luxury’ (granted I have also seen some absolute hovels). Is it the kitsch marble bar that bumps it up a notch? Maybe it’s those bar stools, the ones they must have nabbed from Game whilst they ran that 2-for-1 special a while back.
Perhaps we need to show some folks around what the Cape real estate market has to offer – maybe then folks will be less likely to throw words like ‘luxury’ around as haphazardly.
As for Panayiotou and his new home? I’m sure if he defaults on any payments his momma will be there to clean up his mess.
