There comes a time in every young footie fan’s life when they must pick a team to support and prepare for the roller coaster ride that is football fandom. You could take the easy route (like most people I know) and opt for one of the Manchester teams, throw your hat in with the ‘Special One’ at Chelsea or enjoy third and fourth place every year with Arsenal.
Or, like some of us less fortunate fans, you could get saddled with a team that bounces up and down the league and makes the last few weeks of the season less of a title charge and more of a battle for Premier League survival. Being a Newcastle United fan I feel Prince William’s pain at supporting a team like Villa, although at least they have a manager who can walk and talk at the same time.
Prince William sat down with former English footballer and current Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker in the build-up to tomorrow’s FA Cup final between Villa and Arsenal. His chances of taking George to a game then (after asking his dear mother for tickets)? This from the Telegraph:
I don’t know, I’ll have to pass that by the missus, see how I can get away with it! At the moment, being only 22 months, it’s a little bit early.
I imagine little George might hear some language he has never heard before but I doubt William will be sitting in the cheap seats with your regular football fans.
