Sometimes you read a story that makes you sick to your stomach so, in the interest of honesty, consider this your warning.
As the taxi protest in Durban’s city centre escalates, some truly horrific news has come to light about the death of an infant. The child was dumped in a bin and, through a one-in-a-million set of circumstances, came to be run over and killed. TimesLive quotes Rescue Care paramedic Garrith Jamieson here, who arrived on the scene at Aliwal Street around 11AM:
People who had been looting and striking had thrown a concrete bin in the roadway. The bin had broken and inside the bin was a infant wrapped up in a blanket. The infant was then run over by passing cars.
Paramedics assessed the baby‚ who was only an infant‚ and sadly declared the little infant deceased on the scene.
Another paramedic, herself a mother, said that it was one of the worst things she had ever seen in the line of duty.
