If reports are to be believed, then Trevor Noah’s family has seen three deaths in a rather short amount of time, and if his grandmother is to be believed, then “the family is cursed”.

Saturday saw Trevor’s family mourn the death of his cousin, 24-year old teacher Cebisile Happiness Khoza, who was murdered earlier this month. The family was gathered for her funeral, which Trevor was not at due to being abroad. His grandmother, Nomalizo Noah, explained how Trevor’s mum has been shot six years ago by her former husband, how another family member had died from poisoning and how another had been attacked and beaten to death.

“How do you explain this?” she asked. “It is a curse, I believe the family is cursed.”

But Trevor has something completely different to say.

According to Trevor, it seems no-one has died?

The Sunday Times reported that Trevor “had not been reached by his family as he was travelling overseas”. Considering she passed away a few weeks ago, I am sure someone, somehow, in the age of technology and communication, would have been able to get word to him.

Who knows?
