World’s First Size 22 Model Lands Magazine Cover

These days, you don't have to be a starving, skeletal mess to be a supermodel – entered is the age of the plus-size model, and this gal has landed a magazine cover.

You may remember me talking about Tess Holliday a few months ago – she had just been signed to MiLK Model Management as a plus-size model. Now, the size 22 model has landed her first magazine cover.

And it’s with People magazine, nogal.

The 29-year old, who is mother to nine-year old Rilee, cried when she first saw the cover.

“It’s crazy,” she said of landing the cover of PEOPLE. “I’ve been reading it since I was a kid so to be on the cover is surreal.”

Tess was at the airport when she saw a woman unpacking this weeks new magazines, including People.

“I asked her to dig it out for me and then I cried,” she said. “I wanted it to happen for a long time. This was definitely a wildest dreams moment for me.”

People magazine sent out a Tweet on the day of the shoot with an image of Tess having her make-up done.

She was bullied form a young age and gives this advise to kids: accepting yourself and find supportive people. As for the people who criticise her larger frame?

“Health is so personal for everybody. It’s really my business.”

Good luck to her, and congrats.
