When you think of the average English football fan you probably think of a beer-guzzling, tattoo-covered skinhead who drinks Stella Artois and dreams of owning a pub. You’re not far off, but every now and again someone comes along to buck the trend.
With the FA Cup final just eight days away (for the not-so-sporty out there that’s England’s oldest cup competition) fans are going to extreme measures to try and secure a seat at Wembley, the iconic stadium where the match will be held.
Now usually you’d expect to have to hang around outside the stadium and hope some scalper flogged you his mate’s ticket at an exorbitantly inflated price. Or, of course, you could send a letter to the highest office in the land requesting royal help. One Gunners fan, Charlie Pearce, chose the latter and penned a letter to the Queen in a last attempt to get tickets for his friend Leo and himself. He was quite surprised when he received this response:
Here’s an idea Charlie, why not offer to trade the Queen’s response for a match ticket? I know it would require some effort to find another Arsenal fan who could read but it’s worth a try.
