A general scroll down one’s Facebook wall reveals a number of things these days – single mates are dropping like flies, Facebook is still the go-to place for whiny jilted lovers to garner sympathy, and people love their pets.
If you can wade through all the hashtags, pet posts can be more than tolerable, and truth be told even the coldest souls out there have fallen prey to the charm of our four-legged friends. That’s exactly why M-Net Movies has decided to show the dogs of South Africa a little love, narrowing down a nationwide search to five finalists in the M-Net Movies Family Ambassadoggy competition.
The competition gives five judges (one of whom is our own Bailey Schneider) the chance to pick their favourite entrant, then handing over to the public to decide which pooch walks away the winner. Without further ado here are your five finalists…
Judge: Vannessa Haywood
Dog: Zee
Owner: Ronnie Magic
I chose Zee because her tricks were original and she is extremely well trained. It’s also very difficult to train a terrier so hats off to the owners! She looks like quite a character and I hope she takes the win!
Judge: Rob Vember
Dog: Rufus
Owner: Ernest Potgieter
Rufus stood out immediately; instant love and cuddles were called for through my PC screen. It’s near impossible to look at that fluffy face and not want a lick. His cuteness factor was matched by his politeness. Rufus’ behaviour screamed gentleman. With a spring in his step and wag in his tail he’ll be hard to beat.
Judge: Just Curious
Dog: Tyrion
Owner: Shawn Custer
The dog is cute, sassy, has a mind of its own, a total diva and it was love at first sight!
Judge: Bailey Schneider
Dog: Charlie
Owner: Roxanne
Charlie really reminds me of the dog from the Jim Carrey movie “The Mask.” Not only is he adorable and instantly loveable, but he’s got skills and I think he could easily be the dog everyone wants to cuddle up with when watching Channel 105.
Judge: Kristy Sharman
Dog: Gunner
Owner: Melany Wood
My selection for M-Net Ambassadoggy competition is the awesome Surfer Dog! I think it’s pretty obvious why I absolutely love this dog, a dog that loves the outdoors and is keen on adventure is my idea of a best friend. Trust me, Tyson can attest to that. If you agree, you should like his video and make him the first M-Net Movies Family Ambassadoggy!
And those, ladies and gents, are your final five pooches. If you want to ensure your favourite canine rules the M-Net roost you need to head over to the M-Net Movies Ambassadoggy Top 5 YouTube playlist, watch the videos and ‘like’ your favourite. Voting closes on May 25 and the video with the most ‘likes’ will take home the title.
You can find out more about the Ambassadoggy competition HERE, and we’ll even allow you to post about it all over your Facebook page without judgement.
