And when we say free whisky, we’re not talking about any whisky – we’re talking about Jack Daniel’s. Now look at how out of hand this competition has got.
To fill you in, we were struggling to find establishments across Cape Town that stocked Jack Daniel’s premium ‘Gentleman Jack,’ the smooth twice-charcoal-mellowed taste we can’t get enough of. So we asked our readers to send in a pic of them in a bar holding a bottle – should they ever find one. In return, we give them a bottle of Gentleman Jack. Now can you believe it our map is showing 75 establishments across the Cape? And that’s not including the 5 new entries below! That’s right – we’re well on our way to 100!
And if you want to get involved – read on..
GUYS – PLEASE – IMPORTANT – Check the map before heading out on the hunt for Gentleman Jack. We’re receiving tons of duplicates. The map is here – have a look at it and familiarise yourself with which bars have already been sent in.
To recap, we’re celebrating bars that stock great American Whiskey – in particular, Gentleman Jack. And that’s why we’re giving away a bottle of Jack Daniel’s for every new Cape Town venue that you tell us about, that stocks Gentleman Jack. We’re adding them as pins to the Gentleman Jack map on the Jack Daniel’s microsite HERE.
Here are the latest additions:
1) So there’s a place in Observatory called ‘Jerry’s’ (obviously) and they serve burgers. In fact the full name is Jerry’s Burger Bar. The ‘bar’ part at the end suggests liquor is served at this establishment. And serve it they do, with an impressive range that includes our favourite premium Gentleman Jack. Nora likes to party – she was there and she sent this in to prove it.
If you check out our map – that Lower Main Road in Obs is becoming something of a Gentleman Jack hotspot. They should rename it to ‘The Gentleman Jack Strip’
2) Lawrence found this little guy at The Roundhouse in Camps Bay.
I do like the Jack shelf above him. I see that bottle Single Barrel needs to be replaced!
3) We move over to young Vaughn here – quietly minding his business at another Cape Town institution, the Constantia Nek Restaurant, then BOOM – look at what he found.
Nice cap.
4) Now there’s a place called Odyssey Gastropub on Bree Sreet. Old Alex and his pals, Stephan and Dawid found that they stock more than just things that give you gastro.
It’s not often we have the ‘triple-hold’ but here it is, for all to enjoy.
5) Don’t stress if you ever find yourself trapped on Woodbridge Island – Roger Weiss has confirmed that ‘The Beach Tavern‘ has got you covered.
That dreamlike photo doesn’t surprise me. Such is the glory of Gentleman Jack.
Good luck out there, gang – and let’s keep cruising to the 100 mark – there might be a MASSIVE prize for number 100!

Ok, so check out this page – that’s the Jack Daniel’s ‘microsite’ within 2oceansvibe. You’ll see we’ve made a pretty little map there. Now that’s the map that we will use to mark off all the fine establishments that stock Gentleman Jack.
All you have to do when you find a bar that serves it, is ask the barman if you can take a picture of yourself with the bottle and send it to us.
Make sure you:
1) Give us the name and address of the bar
2) Ask the barman/manager for a bottle of Gentleman Jack and take a picture for us of you holding the bottle.
3) Tell the manager you can guarantee his/her establishment will get a mention on 2oceansvibe.com, if they’re being difficult.
4) Send the pic to editor@2oceansvibe.com with the subject “I found some Gentleman Jack”
We’re giving away one bottle of Jack Daniel’s for every new one of these you send us. Only one per establishment and one per person.
By the end of it we’ll have a very nicely detailed map showing all the spots that serve Gentleman Jack in Cape Town.
