I know I often tell you about the importance of getting Vitamin D and how many people are actually lacking in it, and in the same breath I’ve told you countless times to wear sunblock. So which one is it? It’s a delicate, happy balance – a few minutes in the sunshine everyday should keep you going, but don’t forget to wear your sunblock.
Do you need a horror story to remind you to apply it?
Here we go:
That is 27-year old Tawny Willoughby from Kentucky in the USA. She started using sun beds when she was still in school and at just 21 she was diagnosed with skin cancer. Now she has to go to a dermatologist every six to 12 months, and each time they find more cancer and have to remove it.
She has had basal cell carcinoma five times and squamous cell carcinoma once.
Tawny posted the above selfie last month to Facebook and it has now been shared over 50 000 times. It is horrifically tragic.
Friends, don’t be silly this year when you escape South African winter for the sunny shores of the Med. And if you are worried about your skin, go to a dermatologist (actually, you should just go to one anyway – you can’t always see the bad signs). Once you have all that figured out, you can pop to the Skin Renewal Clinic for some rejuvenating treatments to get rid of the sunspots you probably have.
And remember, if you apply it properly, a good spray tan is the answer.
