Oh yay, the wait is over and we can all stop wildly speculating as to who the new hosts of Top Gear will be. Wait, hang on, it isn’t set in stone.
It is supposedly looking increasingly likely that the BBC will sign three new hosts in the not-too-distant future. So who might these three be then? Here’s the Independent:
BBC bosses are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Jodie Kidd, Philip Glenister and Guy Martin as the new Top Gear presenters.
The three names have been among the frontrunners tipped to present the show for some time.
Kidd currently presents Channel 5’s The Classic Car Show, while motorcycle racer Guy Martin has previously presented documentaries and Life on Mars actor Philip Glenister is thought to add an off-beat element to the line-up.
Now we had previously touted both Jodie Kidd and Philip Glenister as possible hosts so we haven’t done too badly, although it looks like Guy Martin slipped through the net.
I do have a spot of bad news for those hoping this deal is in the bag, as the source claims to have overheard the show’s co-creator Andy Wilman blabbing about the line-up while lunching with Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay. Nothing like eavesdropping on a lunch to verify a story.
Let’s all just hope this saga ends soon, I am tired of being reminded about Jeremy Clarkson every time I read the news.
