As the death toll in the aftermath of the Nepalese earthquakes continues to rise, standing at around 7 200, we are seeing more footage emerge of the moment the quake struck.

The latest footage to surface shows some historic landmarks crashing to the ground, like something you might expect in a poorly-made Tomb Raider movie. The amateur video was shot in the Nepalese town of Bhaktapur. As the quake wreaks havoc the temples, which form part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, can be seen crashing to the ground.

In addition to those who have lost their lives it is estimated that over 14 000 people have been injured. The Nepalese Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat had this to say, as reported on CNN:

[The quake has caused] incalculable human loss and suffering, with millions of people rendered homeless.

The aftershocks have not receded and we expect the final casualty numbers to climb much higher.

It will be a miracle if anyone is found alive.
