I can’t imagine being the chief financial officer for any political party is a pleasant task, but add into the mix that the party is the Julius Malema-led EFF and you are really in for a taxing time.
Wiekus Kotze was suspended three weeks ago for allegations of misuse of party funds made against Malema and other party members. Now he claims that Juju is looking for retribution and he fears for his life. Kotze says he and his bodyguards were involved in a high-speed shootout with gunmen, and he thinks there is a hit out on him. Here’s TimesLive:
“It all started after the press briefing I held three weeks ago to inform the country about the theft of public funds by EFF leaders,” said Kotze.
“Immediately after the briefing, Julius Malema called me from his personal mobile phone more than three times, threatening me.”
Kotze said last week, a high-ranking EFF member “was pressuring me to go and meet Julius.”
“I declined. And now there is an attempt on my life,” said Kotze.
Perhaps it is time you sit down and have that chat Wiekus. My suggestion would be somewhere very public, and perhaps close to a health care facility.
