Bryan Adams – Canadian crooner, Kirstenbosch regular and owner of a six-string guitar he bought back in ’69, the best summer of his life.
Ryan Adams – American singer-songwriter and producer, less enamoured with that summer than his Canadian counterpart. He once famously stopped a concert of his when a crowd member requested he sing ‘Summer of 69’, handing the man a $30 refund and asking him to leave the venue.
The incident may have been blown out of proportion, with some saying the fan was stopped at the door on his way out and allowed to stay, but it seems he has since softened to the comparison.
Adams performed Tuesday night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, the same venue where the original incident took place, and laid down an acoustic cover of the iconic song.
If you can’t beat them join them brother, you’re welcome at Kirstenbosch whenever you please.
