Some sports fans are loyal to the death, others (you Manchester United fans out there know who I’m talking about) will turn tail at the first sight of trouble.
Then there’s the fans of Major League Baseball outfit the Baltimore Orioles, who were barred from attending their team’s latest home game against the Chicago White Sox. You’ll see up top an image of what regular attendance looks like. This from CNN:
As protests and occasional violent unrest rocked Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody, the Orioles took an unprecedented step in American sports history by barring fans for the final game of their series against the White Sox.
The city is reeling amidst a score of violent riots which have seen a 10PM to 5AM curfew imposed on the city.
For the record the Orioles beat the White Sox 8-2, although the result is the least enduring memory from matches such as these.
