Cool your jets, this isn’t a story about some pimped-out version of an Apple Watch. You can read about all those details HERE (courtesy of our own Seth), but for now we’re talking about those classic old-school watches that someone’s great grandfather may have worn once upon a time.
They don’t have apps and they can’t measure your heart rate but damn, these watches have style. There is a watch sale coming soon, and it is believed that four of the timepieces (that’s fancy talk for watch) will fetch over $1 million. Let’s get stuck right in shall we?
First we have the Rolex 6263 Daytona “Albino”, which happened to have belonged to a certain Eric Clapton. There were only three of these bad boys ever made which makes them something a collector’s item, and it remains on of Rolex’s finest ever sports models. It is estimated that the watch should easily clear the $1 million mark.
Then we get the Patek Philippe Stainless Steel Mono-Pusher Doctors Chronograph, which is something of a mouthful but is guaranteed to get bidders going wild. This from CNN:
It dates to the 1930s, comes in a steel case (the most valuable of all metals for Pateks), features a sector dial, and a mono-pusher movement. There were only two of these made, and the other example sits proudly inside the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva.
Due to being one of only two of its kind experts say the watch could fetch as much as $2 million.
Third on the list is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Triple Calendar Moonphase with Black Dial. That last bit is pretty important, as this sets it apart from the rest and makes it a real collector’s favourite.
The fourth and final watch is the Patek Philippe Pink On Pink On Pink Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. What’s all this about pink then?
First, it is pink gold instead of yellow (double the price right there, if not more). Second, it has a stunning pink dial (people love pink on pink), and finally, it has a matching and original pink-gold bracelet.
On the extract, it states clearly that this watch was born with a matching pink gold bracelet.
Apparently this will drive the prices sky-high and could see it top the $1,5 million mark.
Makes the money you will fork over for an Apple Watch seem like chump change, doesn’t it?
