There was something about her voice that set her apart from the rest, but it was really Amy Winehouse the tortured genius that piqued people’s interest in the soulful singer.
Now as we all know Amy joined the ranks of the famed ’27 club’ when she died from alcohol poisoning in 2011. She had, by that time, already amassed six Grammy wins and won legions of fans across the world.
Now an in-depth documentary is set to air in the UK on July 3 and the first teaser has been released. If you look past the ominous music and foreshadowing her words remain rather prophetic, and we can expect a quality piece of film-making from Asif Kapadia.
Enjoy that teaser up top, then do yourself a favour and listen to some of her classics.
