This is incredibly good news for millions of earthlings – the cure for asthma. I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like, and without sounding like I am making light of the situation, I can only assume it is similar to when I have walked up Lion’s Head really fast (I don’t do altitude). I’ve watched many friends cope with it over the years, but this will actually be life changing.
Here’s the big news: researchers at Cardiff University and King’s College London have “identified which cells cause the airways to narrow when triggered by irritants like pollution”.
The even better news is that the drugs needed to deactivate those cells already exist. They are called calcilytics and are usually used to treat osteoporosis.
The cause of asthma? When the small tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs www.honeytraveler.com/buy-strattera/ become inflamed.
Experiments on airway tissue from mice and humans showed that calcium-sensing receptor cells – which detect changes in the environment – go into overdrive in asthmatics, triggering airway twitching, inflammation and narrowing.
In five years we could be in a position to treat patients and potentially stop asthma from happening in the first place.
