Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, and sometimes the two merge and no one is really sure where one ends and the other begins.
This story begins with Lori Jamison in Fargo, a North Dakota town made famous by the 1996 Coen brothers’ movie of the same name. Jamison claims she was locked in a storage unit and went through a harrowing ordeal. becoming trapped after trying to collect some clothes.
This from the GF Herald:
While she was digging through her things, the wind pushed the door shut, latching it. Three days later, she was running out of time…
Her screams for help were finally heard on Friday morning. A worker at the storage unit happened to be nearby and identified cries for help coming from the locked unit.
Here’s where the facts start to unravel somewhat. Jamison initially claimed she had been living in the storage unit when she was found on Friday, something she now denies vehemently. Her case isn’t helped by the fact that she was recently convicted of a felony theft charge and was struggling to find an apartment. Here’s the GF Herald again:
…Lt. Mike Mitchell, a Fargo police spokesman, said it was fairly obvious she had been living there for some time.
[The police] do find people living in storage units from time to time. They’re usually like her, recently evicted or between apartments.
Do you want to know how she went to the bathroom? We won’t go into much detail but involved a garbage can and some towels.
What can we learn from this story? Keep your storage space for actually storing things, and stick to dealing with the best in the business. Stor-Age have the facilities to cover any needs you may have and their free van service can’t be beaten.
Also, felony convictions for theft are bad, stay in school.
